Facebook has become a part of our daily life. We share our daily activities on Facebook by sharing photos status events etc. We share much information in messenger. Many of us use it for business purpose too. As you all know Facebook is the largest Social Networking site in the world. Facebook has 2.23 billion monthly active users. But how secure your Facebook account is? A little mistake can cause your account being hacked. We all should have a little bit of knowledge about how hackers target and gather information so that they can perform a hack attack on different Facebook account. There are thousands and thousands of reasons why hackers do so but here in this article we will discuss about some techniques hackers use to hack Facebook account. This knowledge will definitely help you to protect your account from such attack in future.

But before we start off, I would like to request you all to activate Two-factor authentication for your Facebook account. This generally gives your Facebook account an extra layer of security. If you set up two-factor authentication you will be asked to enter a special login code just after you enter your Facebook password. This is a code that Facebook sends to your registered mobile device you gave during the two-factor authentication process. To activate two-factor authentication process go to your Facebook Settings > Security and Login.

Remember activating two-factor authentication means you are 90% protected from hack attack. Below we will discuss different techniques hackers use to hack fb and will discuss how to be protected from those attack.

1. Phishing Attack: Here in this technique hackers create fake login Facebook page that will look exactly like the real one. It is very hard to identify which one is real and which one is the fake one. Then they send it to their victims via email or other services saying that they need to change their password for a security reason. Many of them enter their email and password into the face login page without properly go through it. And here it is done. As soon as you enter your login details to that fake page your details will directly go to the hackers.

Now the question is how to identify the fake login page, well the answer is pretty simple. As the fake page looks exactly like the real one so it is impossible to detect but remember a fake login page will always contain a strange link that is very easy to identify. The real Facebook login page will contain link like www.facebook.com or www.fb.com but fake page link will look strange that is easy to detect. So, before login you should double check the link of that page.

2. Dictionary or Brute Force Attack: Here in this technique hackers try thousands of passwords in a minimum period of time to guess the right password. If any Facebook user uses a simple password which is available in dictionary, then this attack will easily detect the correct password. That's why security experts always tell us to use a password which is not available in dictionary and tell us to use uppercase lowercase letters special characters in your password.

3. Social Engineering: Social engineering is also a part of Facebook hacking. Here in this technique hackers try to gather information about the users from their Facebook status, Facebook information, friend list and sometimes by directly chatting with the users. Then they use this information to guess the right password. So, to be safe try not to share private information with unknown people on Facebook.

4. RAT (Remote Access Trojan): RAT can also be used to hack Facebook. Remote access trojan is a malware program that creates a backdoor for administrative control over the target computer. Hackers use such program to get access over the victim's computer then they install keylogger to monitor the keystrokes so that they can get the Facebook password. To be safe try not to download applications from infected websites and don't download attachment of emails from unknown sources.

Moreover, if you activate your two-factor authentication you can protect yourself from above hack attacks as all the above attacks are meaningless until the hackers have OTP that you get to your registered mobile device. So, make sure you activate your two-factor authentication today to protect your Facebook account.
