Why You should sleep on your Left Side | Amazing benefits of sleeping on the Left Side

This article will explain why we should sleep on our left side and what health benefits we get if we sleep on the left side. This theory stems from Ayurveda, the oldest natural healing system developed in India. Left-side sleeping has the science-backed health benefits. Though the reason is not entirely clear but some of the researches have shown significant effects of sleeping on the left side. According to the Ayurveda, left side sleeping allows your body to better filter lymph fluid and waste via the lymph nodes because left side of our body is the dominant lymphatic side. Research has also shown that sleeping on the right side can decrease the lymphatic system's efficiency.

Left Side Sleeping Benefits

It improves digestion: Sleeping on the left side allows food waste to easily move from the large intestine into the descending colon and it happens due to the force of gravity. When we sleep on our left side the stomach and pancreas hang naturally as it lies on the left side of the body, so the development of pancreatic enzymes and digestive processes work actively.

It reduces heartburn: It has a magical effect on heartburn. If you are struggling to get relief from heartburn after a meal, then take 10-15 minutes left side lie-down. A study published in The Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology found that left side sleep or lie-down reduces acid reflux symptoms.

Ideal for Pregnant women: Sleeping on the left side is also recommended during pregnancy because it improves the blood flow to the fetus.

Good for your heart: For a better heart health it is always recommended to sleep on your left side. Though there are some debates over whether left side sleeping, or right-side sleeping is best for heart health.

It reduces back pain: People who are suffering from back pain may feel comfortable by switching to left side sleeping. Because left-side sleeping can relieve pressure on the spine.
